PIAA Frequently Asked Questions
Q.  Why do I need to complete the "New Member Chapter Affiliation Form"?   I've been a member of GPLOA for years!

Emmaus High school, Governor Mifflin High School.

Q.  What happens if I miss the February exam date?  There must be a provision for us long-time officials, right?
A.  If you miss the February date, you will not be reffing any High School or Middle School games for 2009!

Q.  What is the renewal cost for PIAA?
A.  The PIAA charges $40 for each sport that you are an official.  Bills are mailed in October of each year for the following school year.  A discounted fee of $35 per sport if you pay by 1/15.  A current rule book is included in your membership as well as continued insurance coverage

Q.  Will I need to take the test again in 2009 or 2010?
A.  Once you have successfully taken the test, you will not need to retake it unless you drop out of PIAA for the sport.

Q.  Do I need to renew my US Lacrosse membership?
A.  A US Lacrosse membership is no longer required.  The insurance provided through PIAA will cover you on the field.  See the summary document on PIAA's website for more information.  You can maintain your US Lacrosse membership in order to take advantage of the extensive training, information, and game development.

Q.  Does the PIAA have their own rules?
A.  The PIAA uses NFHS rules for "play of the game", so there is no change to the game on the field.  The PIAA does have specific eligibility rules, such as no 5th year seniors, but we do not enforce these rules.
